of the Jefferson Township Fire Company spent their Saturday & Sunday on
March 1st & 2nd participating and practicing the
"Coordinated Attack," a program developed by local training company, "Task
Force 1". Instructors included Division Chief JT Williams of Price
Georges County Maryland Fire Department and Captain Greg Barnas of
Jersey City New York Fire Department. Firefighters from Browndale,
Dalton, Elmhurst, Jefferson & Throop participated in the program. Crews
learned and practiced proper communication and operation techniques on
the fire ground, along with throwing a few twists into the mix.
Firefighters were able to utilize an unoccupied structure in Jefferson
Township to practice the activities which included hose advancement,
rooftop ventilation, overhaul operations and even having to rescue down
firefighters that had fallen through the floor into a basement with the
only access to those firefighters being the hole they fell through.
These exercises proved to be complex and a challenge for the
participants but they managed to successfully get the job done.
