Pool Fills

Have you recently purchased a new swimming pool or are opening your pool for the summer and need water to fill it? No worries, we are able to help you. Our firefighters will come out to your home with our tanker truck and fill your swimming pool for you. No pool is to big or to small for us. Unfortunately, we do not have fire hydrants or access to fresh chlorinated water in our area. Our fire trucks carry lake water that will typically clear up in a swimming pool after shocking and a day or two of filtering. Our tanker carries approximately 3,000 gallons of water per load.  We charge $100 per load for addresses within Jefferson Township and $150 per load for addresses outside of Jefferson Township.

We do ask for as much notice as possible to schedule pool fills. We are 100% volunteer and our members like to plan accordingly with their families to schedule non-emergent duties such as these that can take several hours to complete, depending on the size of the pool. One load of water takes approximately 45 minutes to deliver, empty and refill our truck.

Please fill out the interactive form below and someone will be back in touch with you shortly. WE ARE VOLUNTEER, PLEASE ALLOW 24-48 HOURS FOR SOMEONE TO RESPOND TO YOUR REQUEST.

Frequently Asked Questions:

  • Do we fill swimming pools? Yes we do, as time permits.

  • When can you do it? We are able to fill pool when there is time and equipment is available.  First, do understand if an emergency comes in, we will have to reschedule.  Typically, we try and schedule pools fills on early evenings when three or four members are available or on a weekend.  We have to put a truck at the lake to pump water, and a tanker to shuttle it to your pool.  Usually, we schedule these within a few days.  Please keep in mind, we are all volunteers trying to help.  We do not get paid.  We have things to do, but we “donate” the time needed for our practice and to help you.

  • Lake water? Yes, it is often lake water we use.  Occasionally, it is drinking water, depends what is on the tanker the day we deliver.  Usually, if you are filling a pool it takes several loads, you WILL get lake water.  The fish, birds and other animals drink it every day.  People drink it filtered in their wells. If you never used it to fill a pool, it works fine.  You “shock” your pool, wait a day and filter as usual.  Takes a day or so and it is fine.

  • How much water dose your truck carry? Our tanker carries approximately 3,000 gallons of water per load.

  • How much do you charge? We charge $100 per load of water for pool fills within Jefferson Township, $150 per load of water for pool fills outside of Jefferson Township.

  • How can I pay? Payment is needed at the time of service.  We take cash, checks or arrangements can be made to meet at the firehouse to accept credit cards.

  • Will you damage my yard? Hopefully, no. When filled with water, the tanker weighs over 55,000 pounds.  We will keep the truck parked on a solid roadway and use hoses to fill your pool.  We will require someone be home, and we often will have someone stop by to look it over before the delivery.

  • How do I get the lake water clear? Typically when we deliver water, it is lake water as we do not have fire hydrants in our area. The lake water may have a brown tint to it. This brown tint is normally dirt. The most important part in getting your water clear is to FIRST stabilize and balance the water. This means getting the pH and alkalinity within normal ranges for chlorine to work. If the water is not stabilized and balanced, chlorine may not work. Many pool stores such as Leslie's Pool & Spa in Dickson City will test your water for free and make recommendations on the needed amount of chemicals. This does not mean you have to purchase the chemicals from them, many people will purchase their chemicals from Walmart or online for cost savings. Once the water is balanced, shocking the water should then turn the water to a normal color. Once the shock is complete, let the filter run for several hours and then let the water sit and settle with the pump off. Letting the water sit and settle with the pump off, will then let all the dirt particles to sink to the bottom of the pool to be vacuumed up.

  • Does my pool need to be level? Yes! Your pool must be COMPLETELY level. As products are becoming more readily available to consumers for do-it-yourself type projects, it is extremely important to pay attention to the first couple steps when assembling your pool. It MUST be installed on a completely level service. This may mean adding / removing dirt to make this possible. Pools that are not installed on a completely level service, will have uneven water levels, risk damage and potentially even having one side of the pool blow out when filled with water. We will not be responsible for any damage to your pool nor will we assist in trying to fix your pool. Please make sure it is installed correctly and ready, before calling us to deliver water.
