Below is a calendar reflecting training opportunities available throughout Lackawanna, Wayne & Pike Counties. Also below the class, list, is a grid calendar that includes specific fire department events such as meetings, fundraisers, etc., as they are available, to give other departments a resource to refer to when scheduling their events to prevent overlapping.

    Description:

    National Vehicle Rescue Operations – NFPA 1670 (NVRO)

    Description: This course will provide an operations level of information and skills as it pertains to vehicle rescue incidents. Upon completion of the course, the student will be eligible to complete the PA Joint Rescue Program Basic Vehicle Rescue Examination. Additionally, this course will prepare the student to challenge the IFSAC/ProBoard national certification as a Vehicle Rescue Technician Level 1 in accordance with NFPA 1006. Topics will include incident management; tools/equipment; vehicle anatomy/design; hazard control; patient access, care, and packaging; disentanglement; extrication and termination. This 20-hour course is split between 8 hours of classroom lecture and 12 hours of hands-on evolutions. The final session is an additional 4 hours set aside for the PA Joint Rescue Program Basic Vehicle Rescue Examination. This new rescue curriculum is based on the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) 1670 and 1006 standards.
